Hi I was just wondering what is the general difference between PCGS grading and Australian grading. For example is a coin graded vf-20 considered vf in Australia? or as fine? I am asking because I am heavily interested in a coin that is graded XF-45 by PCGS and was wondering wether it would hold its EF grade in the Australian market?
A PCGS XF45 would be closer to an Aussie VF as dcoin pointed out. I you want an EF coin in a slab then I would be looking in the AU50-55 range, closer to the 55 than 50.
If you have the oppertunity to look at the coin "in hand" make your own assesment is my recomondation. If you are unable to do this then you have to learn for yourself how to cross-grade coins from Sheldon the Aussie grades, ignore the prefix on the slabbed coins is the best way and take note of the number assigned to the coin Remember 1 is junk and 70 is perfect. So a 45 is low in the scale and makes VF
