Well! It is the 1st something I have found. What do you think?

To me it looks like an add on more than a scratch. But what do I know?

Thank you robster!

So it a one off type error?

An error that has only a novelty value to the collector?

If it is indeed struck through 'wire' it is worth keeping.!(plus the coin looks in good nick)

Its a scratch for sure. If it was a strike through then there would not be those raised bits around the edges of the valley.

Removing a piece of wire from the coin would leave those raised bits on the edge of the valley.!

Ive only seen one coin that has has the object it was struck over retained. From memory it was an entire bolt on a 20c or 50c coin. Pretty sure the mint has it. The strike troughs I have seen have all had a relatively rounded edge about the depression when compared to this depression. Chances it is struck through wire that was retained and then pulled out would have to be 1 in 10,000,000 or more. 1 in 10 coins probably have a scratch like that. I know where id be putting my money.

Minor micro meteroid impact, at a very shallow angle.

In all honesty, I have to run with enworb on this one. A sharp hardened point has been dragged along the surface.
Try this in a piece of cheese with a fork prong.
