Bobby, I assume you are getting the emails from Doug directly? I had been trying to post when he sent out bulletins via email alerts. If so I won't worry about posting them unless I see one that doesn't make it here to the crime forum.

Too bad there is so much crime in our world of coins, but thank goodness for people like Doug and the Internet for getting the word out so quickly afterwards. If this resource had been around in the mid 1980's, I might have a lead on the double row box of DMPL Morgans and $20 Saints (among many other items) stolen from my home in a burglary.

That took me out of the coin business and almost killed me as so much was on consignment, I made good on ever dollar, the dealers were understanding, (said a lot for the goodness of our industry) a kid just 17 and owing over $50K with nothing much left in inventory.

That absolutely sickens me.
That is a lot of inventory. I hope these guys get life without parole for this when they are caught and yes, they will be caught.

Update

The suspects involved in the Harbor Coin burglary are professionals and appear to have knowledge in both phone and alarm systems. Dealers in the Chicago area should be cautious about false alarms at night and be alert to any suspicious persons in or around their business.

The suspects more than likely maintained surveillance on the targeted shop and were familiar with response times of local police. The suspects may also be involved in other coin/antique shop burglaries in and around Chicago over the past year.

INFORMATION NEEDED

The Numismatic Crime Information Center is looking for any dealer who may know or have had business dealings with the following individual:

If the suspects are professionals then ther are several possibilities running through my mind ....

(1) their prolific nature means sooner or later they will make a mistake and get busted.....

(2) the coins are probably stolen to order or they will will be discretely sold to nefarious immoral collectors

(3) the burglars maybe linked to some sort of organised crime and may use the coins as collateral for drug deals , gambling etc

(4) its very possible they may try to sell the coins somewere far away like NYC or Florida ....were they think they will offload them safely .....
