Yup, it is magnetic
The odd thing is that it looks like a regular dime, nothing special. Just the thickness and weight.

What did you end up doing with your Quarter JeyRey?

Could it be...

Papua New Guinean 5Toea
2.55g
19.53mm
Nickel plated Steel

Which happen to be minted at the RCM!

Might have a winner!

Where would be the best place to try and sell this when it comes back from CCCS?

put it on ebay, if the dealer has given you a reasonable offer for this coin raw maybe you should take it, there are very few dime collectors.

I'm a dime fanatic and I would be interested!

So would John Regitko at the Canadian Coin News. You should email him what you've found here, and your findings may be published. He has recently discussed a 1978 quarter struck on a thick planchet. The edge grooves extend the width of the oversized coin, and the composition is somewhat of a mystery.

hi guys I too have found one of these in my change. I have found little information on this coin and very poor images. so I have taken some photos of mine and will share them with you all. I would really like to know more about this coin and what its worth. you can click on the images to see the full size version for closer inspection.
I can always take more photos if anyone would like.

Sounds plausible, as long as the diameter of the planchet is not larger than a Canadian 10-cent planchet.

It's interesting that in both cases the collar was able to create a full reeded edge.

Why would the collar be so tall?

So just a thought planchets are usually reeded before they are pressed right? Maybe it got mixed in with the dime planchets after the fact? Hence the full reeded edge?
