I'm not sure about this one. I could simply say that it is/was just a stamp.
But there's always going to be uncertainty.
The shapes of the digits don't represent shapes of the digits within serial numbers on polymer notes.
The numbers aren't straight in regards to the notes wording "FIFTY".
As for the dash? "-", it could've been double stamped & executed extremely well.
Also, it positioning so close to the end of the note could mean that there were more digits?
That's all the light I can shed on this unusual find.

As for the numbers...co-relation? No.
if it was 180 sheets, a serial number expectance would be 7200 (based on 40 notes per sheet)?
Prefixes of the only note printed in 2009 would be 6x40=240
Deduct the two & there is 60 prefixes difference. Which wouldn't be EA (8 prefixes short), it would be EH.
But that's all just mumbo jumbo that I put together.

That's all folks.
Maybe even send it to Mick Ronald Vort, he know's his sh.tuff.

I must say that I'm a little disappointed if thats all it is,it really looks to me as if it was there before the FIFTY was because the colour does'nt go over the black ink of FIFTY.

Hi,

I think you will find that it is a serial or product number associated with the polymer substrate, which would normally have been guillotined from the end or beginning of the roll before entering the simultan printing press for insertion of the colour bars on the substrate.

You say that there is clear evidence that the colour bars cover the serial numbers, indicating that it was there before the printing process commenced.

The fact that the serial number is upside down makes sense when you consider how a substrate roll might have been prepared.

Just the same, it is a very unusual error - certainly like nothing I have ever seen in my polymer note collection over the years. The nearest thing to it would be some of the selvedge numbers on the original uncut sheets of the 1988 $10 polymer notes.

Cheers

Im hoping after all the excitement the note has created it is a genuine error its hard for you to tell only by the computer screen but when its in your hands it looks like the numbers are embedded if thats the right term in the paper not stamped on top, if it is a stamp post production you would think it would smudge but I dont no nothing about notes as mentioned earlier? After looking on this site I think it may soon become something I am wanting to learn about reading and looking at other posts on here is getting addictive I need to find another collector in our area to look at it we did get one couple to look at it who said its a genuine error they told us to list it on ebay, but I want to know more about it and what it is. Does anyone know any way of telling if it is just a stamp? I still have to email RBA just been busy will try do that tonight. Thanks for your input Goatieman.
