Well, just placed my order for one proof and one uncirculated 2013 5-Star Generals half dollar. I am considering ordering two of each but for now I will have to be happy with one of each for my Dansco modern commemorative half dollar album collection. Anyone else ordering these? I think the series looks cool and wish I could afford the gold coin. I mean, I could, but I'd have to skip on paying for things like mortgage and electricity.

I just placed an order for the 3 coin set. Really looking forward to it. Now I have to call the Mint and make sure they don't use FEDEX Smartpost.

I just ordered a few of the uncirculated. I really like the modern half dollar series, will be getting a graded one when it comes out too.

I ordered a proof and unc myself. If the numbers stay low I might order another set.

Quote: I ordered a proof and unc myself. If the numbers stay low I might order another set. Precisely my thinking. I got burned in 2011 by not buying when I could have purchased them at these prices. Now look at the cost. This time I'll be on top of it.

Sorry, don't like any of the offerings. They should have offered individual coins for each GOA.

I really wanted the three-coin set, but the price ended up being a tad bit north of the limit I set for myself. I am still trying to talk myself into it.
They only way I would get he half dollar is with this set. However, I am getting the proof and uncirculated dollars regardless.

Im fine with the combined coins but the shouldnt have basically recycled the reverse for the silver dollar and gold if that was the reverse they were going to use.

I agree. I thought there were some better reverse options.

The Denver made Army half was really of poor quality. The high prices you see are for GRADED ones MS68 and above. I see this half is also made there, and the design is uninspired at best. Each of the 5-star generals should've commanded their own coin, perhaps 5 clad half-dollars, with the Painted Lady of CGSC on the silver dollar and the lamp of knowledge on the half eagle.

Quote: The Denver made Army half was really of poor quality. These are following in the same footsteps from the ones I got anyway. I had ordered 5 of them in excitement, lets just say thats not off to a good start. My shipment came today as I was getting out of the car. I still had stuff to get out of the car so out of excitement I opened the box in the car to check one out. I open it up the first box and low and behold huge bag mark/scratch between Arond and Bradleys faces. Checked all the others and 4 of the 5 had bag marks/scratches on them. I liked the 5th one but since you cant make only a partial return all 5 were repackaged and back in route to the mint before I even went into the house.

@basebal: you should've kept the 5th coin, partial returns means only for coins in a proof or uncirculated set, not individual coins with sku# in a multiple order. PBGS can figure out the return rate by dividing the line item, and the number of items returned. I ordered 10 of the Army unc halves last year, 8 of them were baggy MS63 at best, the two I kept were MS66-67, not great but better than nothing. Because I returned a partial shipment, I don't think I was eligible for the shipping refund. This year I'm forgoing the introductory pricing and buying the unc at the Denver Mint gift shop or at the kiosk at Union Station, so I can see what I'm buying.

Crud youre right, but I honestly couldnt say if the one I liked was actually that great or just looked it in comparison after seeing the others. Picking them up in person probably is smart for these, I'm curious how many round trips my order will take to finally be happy with it.
I know it was a small sample size but my first impression is that PCGS wont be grading any of the uncirc ones a 70 like the Army half, hopefully my order was just bad luck and not common for the series

I'm anxiously awaiting my order...hoping it comes today or tomorrow. For some reason when I try to check the shipping tracker I am getting an error. Must be a website issue.

I just got home and opened mine. Mine is quite nice - MS67 or 68 easily. I'll wait a couple weeks and probably get another - since it appears these aren't going to be huge sellers.
