Well, I got my order today. Both coins (BU and proof) look very good, with no scratches on them or anything. The proof does have one tiny little spot on General Arnold's forehead, but it is so insignificant (and it's really to fill a hole in my album) that I am not going to worry about it. Overll, my impression is the coin itself is not a necessarily striking one, but still far more interesting than half the circulation coinage we have these days. I ordered a second set of BU and proof to put away for a few years. We'll see what happens to the value over time.

Another interesting update that speaks to the quality of the Denver halfs. Silver Towne got their NGC coins back from grading who historically has been more favorable with their 70s than PCGS for modern commemoratives. The interesting part is that they dont have a MS 70 half listed. The proof dollar, uncir dollar, and the proof half all have 70s but for the uncirculated half 69 is the highest they have available as of now. Well see how this plays out but considering the bulk shipments they submit its very unusual for them to not have a 70 available for all forms of the commemorative upon getting their submission back.

basebal - might be a good time to see if there is a MS70 out there in the bidding world... and snatch it up if it is cheap!

According to the mint my shipment should be in hand tomorrow however if UPS gets to my house early I'll have to wait until Monday. I don't think they have Saturday delivery.
Has anyone been able to check the population reports from either PCGS or NGCf to see if they have a MS70. Also it may be interesting to know if how have been graded and what their distribution is. I would if I could but am not a member of either.

PCGS is slow to update their commomorative reports as the girl scout ones still arent that accurate unless you believe theres only 80 of those in ms70 lol. I cant see the NGC ones myself either and havent been able to find one to use my trick for their reports.
Though if NGC is being stingy with the 70s or not giving them out PCGS more than likely has none or single digits for them

You'll be able to order these coins into December (barring an unforeseen sell-out).

Here are the mintage limits : 100,000 $5 gold, 500,000 $1 silver and 750,000 half-dollar clad coins . You can order until they are sold out.
In addition the Three coin set has a limit of 10,000 of which 8344 are already sold as of last week's mint report.

I did receive my 2nd set of the halves yesterday. These actually looked better than the 1st I got. I am now done with this series...looking forward to baseball season next year!

Oddly, my second set of halves also looked better than the first set. Weird. Maybe it's just my imagination.

My second set did look better than the first as well. Of course my expectations may have also been lowered.
As an interesting side note Silvertowne got their PCGS ones back. 69 was the highest grade any of their halfs got from pcgs from what they have listed for both the ms and the proof. Their NGC ones do have PF70, but their ms were all 69 as well. It is looking like a repeat of the army half so far.

I am trying to collect this series as well. I ordered one when they first became available. When it arrived, it appeared to have a scratch near the D mint mark. So, I asked for a replacement. It came today. The replacement seemed to have an identical scratch! Did anyone else see this on their coin? Here's a picture of my coin. Should I send this back, for yet another replacement? (Sorry about the color balance, the picture came out a little red)
