From a buddy of mine:

Possibly a French token. There is a fleur de lis on it. Don't see a denomination.

This is a jeton from the city of Dijon; those are the arms of Dijon on the obverse. The reverse arms, of the tree with roots, are of the noble family of la Verne. This jeton is included in this 1907 treatise on French jetons (#9962):

Here's another write-up of this jeton, and of whom it represents: Jacques la Verne, Lord of Athée, Mayor of Dijon.

Mayor la Verne's motto on the reverse, HEC DOMVS EDIFICATVR SAPIENTIA, translates as "this house was built with wisdom." The old Latin name for Dijon was Divio, so the obverse legend, PRO CAMERA DIVIONENSIS, reads "for the chambers of Dijon."

philadelphian Thank you for the info. Did some quick research on La Verne looks like he was decapitated for organizing a coup. Again thanks for the info.

So much for that La Verne "wisdom!" Glad you found some real La Verne info among all those Google hits for episode guides for Laverne and Shirley!
