Reverse: Shield of arms of the Cordwainer's or Shoemaker's Company including three goat's heads and surmounted by another: "PROMISSORY HALFPENNY". Edge inscription: "PAYABLE IN CHANDOS STREET CONVENT GARDEN". William Allen appears to have been a boot and shoemaker with a business at 36 Chandos Street, London.
