Great Conder Token

"Allen's boot & shoemaker London (Middlesex) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: The arms of William Allen's family including six martlets and surmounted by another: "WILLIAM ALLEN LONDON * 1795 *". Reverse: Shield of arms of the Cordwainer's or Shoemaker's Company including three goat's heads and surmounted by another: "PROMISSORY HALFPENNY". Edge inscription: "PAYABLE IN CHANDOS STREET CONVENT GARDEN". William Allen appears to have been a boot and shoemaker with a business at 36 Chandos Street, London.

D&H Middlesex No: 246. Diameter 28mm."

"The Token Book" published by Galata 2010, lists this as F £10, VF £20 and EF £50.

This is an awesome reference for these tokens, costs a pretty penny but worth it IMO.
