After watching the PCGS video a while back, I decided to email Sandy Campbell (involved in RCM/BOC process) to see if he could share the numbers that he had available. I have just compiled them into a sheet based on info from the RCM and previous posting from daryldaryl and CC-Ottawa. Here are the new numbers. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I note that the $10 copped quite a lot of melting activity. As a result of this, the total remaining for the $5 is now greater than the total remaining for the $10.
In what year did most of the melting happen?

Wow, melting 27% of the limited 1914 $5 mintage.
That's staggering.
Great work! I didn't think we'd get numbers.

I am happy to see the $5 PHS individual numbers stated are the correct official mintages. Some other are stating that there were only 45 1913 $5 PHS and that it was the lowest issued of the 3 $5 PHS coins. What a turn around, that it's actually the highest number of the $5 PHS series. Some others really took it to issue about this and now looks who's laughing.
Great job purelywasted!

@ purelywasted... Great job number crunching! It gives us quite an accurate idea of the maximum remaining Gold Coins!

If only we could determine how many went into the melting pots over the last hundred years! 10%...20% ...30% ?

I can vouch that CC-Ottawa has the correct number of HS for the $5 and $10 coins on his original spreadsheet. They correspond to the official RCM communique provided to RCM Reps and authorized RCM dealers.

I'm a little confused to the numbers. Take for example 1912 $5 coin
1538 (Sandy Campbell) - 140 = 1398 1398 - 1323 (estimate) = 75
How does this give an accurate number for the PHS? Are we to assume that the estimate is correct? or am I reading the chart wrong? Who gave the estimate? and where did daryl get his numbers?
Did Sandy only confirm the Bank of Canada Hoard and Released by BoC?
