I think this one will be a cake walk for you guys. There are a lot of Morgan experts here, and PCGS and NGC agree on the grade of this coin. So do I, although I'm not an expert. I got this coin, originally in a PCGS slab, for my 7070. I love the toning, both obverse (with the storm cloud overhead) and reverse (which really is the neat, pale pinkish-gray shown in the photo). If you took a look at my recent Peace dollar grading challenge, you will realize I like silver with matte, satiny skin over the fields, rather than proof like mirrors. This coin certainly fits the bill. Great luster, too. So... What's your grade?

Looks MS66 to me. Now if only it had the reverse of '78!

Don't I wish! But this is just one of those common dates with lots of affordable coins in high grades that are perfect for a type set. Besides, if it had been reverse of 1878, I would have sold it long since and bought a common date Morgan - and spent the rest on Half Cents!

I would grade it an MS66 but as for the TPG's I think they are in at MS65, as like you said more of a common date and high grades are easy to come by so they are harder on these

Beautiful Morgan! I'd say MS-64 with a decent shot at a 65. Very nice indeed!

I'd guess MS-65. The cheek is clean but there are small scuffs in the fields and one minor hit on Liberty's neck and these could hold it back from a higher grade.
These photos maybe indicate "semi-prooflike" but that's about it.
The diagonal stroke of N in ONE looks very faint. Is that just the photo?
