I rarely buy raw coins anymore, but like so many, I was not so discerning in my "youth" as a type collector. Raw coins seemed liked such a bargain at the time - but generally I got what I paid for.

Most of those coins live happily in my Dansco 7070 and will never be candidates for grading. But a few of my naive acquisitions still look pretty good to me today.

This Seated Liberty Half is one of them, so I took a gamble and sent it in with a recent batch to PCGS. I was thrilled when it graded without details!

Care to guess what they gave it?

Very nice Liz! I think PCGS gave this beauty a solid AU58. Looks originial to my eyes. Is thiat a little die crack going from the last A in America to the reeds and rim?

I am hoping AU-50 is at least close to what they graded it. Looks original and a beautiful coin!
Rest in Peace

I have about 4,000 coins in my collection and slabbed coins are not represented, even by a single piece.
I really like to grade my own coins 'in hand'.

This coin has no problems, and presents well.
I often differ to other CCF graders. Not in this case.
AU 53 to 55 is just fine by me!

Actually, I am after one of these in this condition, or perhaps a little less, for my collection.
It would sit nicely in my collection of World coins.

Very nice, going with AU 55, just a tad too much wear on the high points for it to be any higher in my book
