A lot of other people have posted about the importance of being nice to tellers and other bank personnel. I would like to add my 2 cents and echo that.
I have tried the entire gamut of ways to act, and can tell you for sure that being nice gets you much, much farther.
I have a vault teller that orders 2 boxes of halves for me every week. If I forget to email her she orders them anyway. It was from 2 boxes that she ordered when I forgot that I hit my "mother lode". We talk about our kids and she always seems genuinely happy to see me.
At my main dump bank I was simply nice and and almost apologetic when I started dumping there. One day I came in and the teller supervisor pulled me to the side and told me that if I would like I can just start bringing in bagged halves and they would cash them in for me. No need to roll them or wait for them to be counted with the armored car service. Just always make sure they are $1,000. She even gave me a small roll of coin bags. Now I just walk in with a sealed bag, hand it to a teller and they hand me 10, 100 dollar bills without a word. I wrote a letter to her manager praising her and believe me, she really appreciated it.
These are a couple of the more extreme examples, but in every case, being nice has been by far the best option.
So... BE NICE!

And be sure to bribe them with donuts and the occasional pizzas from time to time. I even had the bankers volunteering to carry boxes of halves out to my truck for 3 weeks after I bought them pizza

I also have found that the tellers are much more willing to help you out and keep an eye out for you when you're friendly to them. What goes around comes around!

First off, I want to say that I agree you typically get more bee's with honey. But I must say the banks have used my pleasantries and cordial demeanor against me. I've also approached it apologetically. Telling the head teller to let me know if I'm pushing too hard. I talk to the tellers and try to build relationships. I've even given some of them coins. One girl collected foreign. Two others had always wanted an IHC and a Buffalo. Of course, I had some extra's at the house so I obliged. Both banks are useless to me now. And they weren't just coin banks. I had additional dealings with them. One fired me and the other cut me off from purchasing or depositing more than "a piggy banks worth" of coin. In addition, these changes in policy were presented to me in less than ideal circumstances. One was an angry letter and the other was a manager meeting me in line to say "this is the last time" in front of tellers and other members. Some of you may assume my friendly demeanor are represented about 10% of the time and I'm a butt head the other 90. You're entitled to any opinion but it's my nature to be friendly. I guess too friendly. On the flip side, I'm cordial with my current banks but keep the talk strictly business. I don't tell them what or why I'm ordering/dumping coin other than to say it's related to a "hobby". I've had no problems. I guess I'm saying it's dependent on the circumstances and people you're working with. It's also important to remember that the people making the real decisions aren't the ones we speak with every day. I believe the most important task for long term CRHing is selecting the appropriate bank. Use a bank that does enough commercial business for you to go unnoticed. That was my mistake. OO

I always like to show off my gun collection with the tellers. They really like the shiny ones. I could never understand why they keep hitting the silent alarm. I was only being nice . Actually, being nice is the best way. Bring them some Godiva Chocolates. That works wonders.

I stopped bringing treats for the tellers, they aren't waitresses, have a lot of downtime, are paid well, (the ones here make twice minimum wage),and from what I've seen, and they never work up a sweat. Nothing wrong with being nice tho. I'm in customer service too. I don't get donuts and pizza from my customers, and I work a lot harder than tellers. Just ask me, I'll tell ya...

I just dropped off an Easter basket to my group of friends at my bank today. I included a thank you card telling them how much I appreciate their making my life more fun by helping me in my hobby. I do not have the best memory, so I asked one of them if any customer wrapped rolls had come in. The teller just smiled and said, the only ones we have are the ones you have seen. We keep them aside for you now anyway. I told her I really appreciated this and sorry I had asked - I just did not remember if I had or not. I have been as friendly and praising of them as I can b/c they have become friends. I once took my JFK album in to show them what they were helping me do. They all liked it and seemed excited they were a part of it.
