I got this Peace dollar today for $21. I've already checked for being genuine and it is, however I for some reason, can not grade this coin as I consider it as ugly a coin as can be. I only got it because I needed it for a 20th century folder (and the incredible price).

Can somebody stare at this "thing" long enough to grade it.

**For the record*** I'm not responsible if you get ill from looking at it !

Hard to grade MS coins with only a photo, but based on what I see, I would put it at a 63-64.

You guys are generous ! or I'm extremely jaded. I was struggling with an AU55, when I gave up on it.

But I'm feeling happy now and you guys know what happens next!! THE FATMAN HAPPY DANCE.

Peace dollars are a pain to grade.
Depending on the yr. etc. some of the strikes
were pretty lousy to begin with. Have to look
for that mint luster. This coin is lacking some
in that area but has a decent strike all around.
Have to give it a high AU max. Some slight rub wear
and lackluster.

I will go with MS-63+ but it may just squeak out a MS-64.

Hard to photograph and hard to grade but this one looks mint state. The 1923 is common and inexpensive up to MS-65; this one appears to qualify for at least MS-62, limited perhaps by small scuffs and tiny rim marks on the reverse.

Fatman, sounds like you're not a big Peace dollar fan. This one looks about average and better than many.

MS63 but there again, if it has some rubs, AU58.

Boy do you got that right! I think the designer who had the "Artistic" vision for that should be put in time out for a couple of years to say the least.

I'm a Morgan man myself.

I'm just opposite. The Morgan chick dude is a turn off for me. That's one ugly obverse but to each his own. I do like the reverse. Too bad they couldn't put the Morgan reverse with the Peace dollar obverse.
Oregon coin geek.....*** GO BEAVS ! ! ! ***
