Hello all! I have in my possesion an 1858 quarter.

What grade do you think this coin would attain? I understand the limitations with just seeing pictures and not being able to physically inspect it. I'm looking for opinions on worth in todays market realistically. If value opinions are frowned upon I understand.

Matt

P.S. I only took it out of its protective case for the photos I keep my coins properly protected and store them in appropriate coin slabs in complete dry conditions and handle them with proper gloves.

I'd grade it VF/XF Details - Improperly Cleaned. This is a common issue and not worth a lot in the condition it's in. My guess would be $50 retail at most.

P.S. New members are not allowed to sell on CCF.

Thank you for your knowledge I was not intending to sell on this website/forum, I'm just gathering some information for myself. I've gotten a few that have told me its been cleaned and then I have also gotten a few that have told me it had not been cleaned. Your at almost 5000 posts on this website and I imagine you are an avid collector with heaps of knowledge so I'm going to trust your judgement. Thanks again,

Matt

VF-XF details, older scrubbing. Hard to give a value on a cleaned coin. I guess whatever it goes for on a site like ebay is what it's worth. It may surprise you, it has good bones.

VF-35 details and definitely cleaned based on the vertical hairline scratches visible on the obverse. The reverse shows less evidence of cleaning.

Nice-looking Seated coins often sell for surprisingly high prices on ebay. If you list it with your desired minimum bid amount it might just sell!
