Although there were some actual gold dollars made, it's very doubtful that the ones in the OP are the 22kt versions; "...convention attendees and invited guests gathered at the United States Mint booth, Director Moy and ANA Executive Director Chris Cipoletti removed a large curtain covering the exhibit to reveal the 22-karat gold coins that to date had never been seen by the public." http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/ind...lease&ID=821

I sent the guy a quick message with some info on the coin. It'll be interesting to see if and how he responds. I'll be sure to update.

I also sent a quick message. There are plenty of people out there who really do have no clue about these dollars. No need to snark on the guy/gal for it.

I have a feeling they know it not gold, but they'll lie and say they didn't the coin wasn't made out of gold try to play it around.

6 of them for $5 and free shipping? Looks like a good deal to me.

He replied to my message, first to thank me, then a second time saying he had updated his listing (which it doesn't look like he did).
IDK, normally I'd say he was a scammer, but looking at his other auctions I don't see a pattern that he is one. He has a few other coins listed for the same price, most also badly mislabeled. I think this is just a real case of someone who knows nothing about coins. Maybe he'll take up an interest and pick up the hobby.
And FYI, he had a Silver Half up for auction for under melt last time I checked, assuming it was real. Might be a nice steal.

Whether the guy is a scammer or doesn't know what he's got, the result is the same. A fool and his money are soon separated...
