Got this one recently cheap. Bought it from a guy who found it with a metal detector in Massachusetts, in a Colonial era home foundation cellar. swcoin.ecrater.com

Awesome coin and thanks for sharing. Kinda funny the only thing you can read in the picture is FUGIO.

Thanks, v! Detectorists keep proving wrong those experts who said the Fugio was a total failure and never saw much circulation. Not much to work with on the reverse, but the obverse die variety might be identifiable. I'll have wait until I get home to my text, though.

That's awesome! Congrats! Do you have any conservation plans for it?

Thanks for the nice comments everyone! TJsCoins, I've thought about conservation. It does have verdigris, especially on the edge. I don't think acetone would hurt. Yeah p, detectorists are finding Colonials that were otherwise thought to have not circulated here.

i want one of these...
what I love about your coin is the story...old northeast property in MA...probably lots of hidden history around that place...so good to know that whatever old soul from the past dropped this coin is smiling from above that it was found is now in the hands of someone who will love it and treasure it...

I often think like that too dsfreeworld. That Colonial home is long gone yet the coin remains where it was dropped. Probably down there at night, candle in hand, hole in his/her pocket.

Nah, he's probably looking down thinking, "That's where that went! I went without pipe tobacco for a week when I lost that!"
