I stopped by my Credit Union today and asked if they had any half dollars (they rarely do). The teller said "a member just deposited this" and it was a full $10 roll of 2001 JFK halves still sealed in the original Philly mint wrapper. Of course I snagged it.

Looks like a sealed roll sells for ~$15 on ebay. Would there be any reason I should open up this roll and look through them, or just sell them as is?

Thanks!

I would hold onto them.

I was at a bank dumping and as I was getting the couple of Ikes the teller had and was about to walk out an older guy came up to the counter and had a plastic coffee container full of change. I asked what he had and he had 4 NIFC mint wrapped rolls and few Ikes. Since he was going to dump them anyway he sold them to me for face and we had a quick chat about the lack of silver and the low price at that time which was HIGHER than it is now.

I agree. I would hold on to them. I don't know of anything special about that year that would warrant your opening the roll.

Nothing special about the year. No DDOs etc. to look for, but people like mint wrapped rolls to collect. The mintage of these also was very large compared to recent years so they likely will not be considered scarce.
