Did some imaging tricks to hide the problems of the coin.
Considering these pics, would you call it VF20? F15?

A difficult choice because some details such as the hairlines between the E and Y of Liberty are unusually sharp for a VF coin; on the reverse the leaves show little detail but the ribbon ends are unusually clear.

Certainly, on average, VF20 possibly even VF25 but I'm sure others will have different opinions and if they do, I'd like to see them explain their reasoning as I have tried to do.

I have a small set on large cents but I don't own a 1856 yet.
So I haven't examined the coin year until now and I have to say,
That date looks like it was put on by a 2 year old.
Not saying it's not legit and not dissing your coin but, I'm just saying...
Actually now I really want one.
Anyway VF 20 works for me.

I go with VF20, however, if I was looking at it to purchase, I would value it at 25% of retail. to me it looks like it was cleaned at some point and the surface digs really take away from its eye appeal.

Actually I went through my stuff and I do have a 1856.
It's the slanting 5 variety and not as odd looking.
They must have know they were going to small cents and did't want to spend any time with new dies
or making the coin look right.
