Nice Large date! Can we see the reverse. Never been good at the clipped thing I will leave that for another.

It looks like the edge was shaved. I don't think there's enough metal there, if it was a clip, to even have any rim present where the clip is.

It is not a clip. There is not any signs of the Blakesley Effect on this coin which would be indicative of a clipped planchet.

It's not my coin, just one I was looking at on ebay
and thinking about.
Thanks for the reply's, the seller did advertise it as shaved,
I thought maybe if it was a clip I might go for it.
Did they even have clips back then?

Post mint in my opinion.

And yes they did have clips back then. In fact the 1795 cents are fairly commonly found on "clipped" planchets.
