I was wondering about this Indian Head cent. The seller said it was XF-dark. Is the color an issue? The surfaces don't look bad, maybe could use a soak in Verdi-care. It actually looks lighter in the light and has a violet color.
I think it does look XF. Not sure verdicare would lighten the color. Seems like the closer to red coloring you get the better price wise it is. Still a nice looking coin though!
I was thinking distilled water and Verd-icare for the reverse but after a second look, that just looks like crud and I think it is fine as is. I wasn't concerned about lightening the coin or trying to alter its appearance in anyway which I know is something you should not do. Removing things like verdigris is another thing since it can damage the coin and my efforts would be more conserving. I actually consider the violet color of this coin to be attractive, that is why I was wondering why it seemed the color was presented as an issue.
