This might be the most heavily worn clad Kennedy half I've seen. You see them holed, plated, bent, and otherwise abused, but seldom do they show up with so much ordinary wear. The early Kennedys really were struck in fairly high relief which explains how decent central detail remains when the rims are basically gone. Gradewise, maybe a Fair-2 (choice for the grade!)? Anybody putting together a low-ball date set of halves? I'd entertain offers on this one!

Nice find. Maybe it was a casino coin? More likely a pocket piece.

definitely a pocket piece , casino coins tend to have more gouges, plus the rim is almost always sharp. That coin has typical pocket piece wear, even tone, worn rim, and a lack of serious damage. Awesome find

The reverse looks artificially worn.
The wear to the shield on the eagles chest looks too "squared" off to me as it doesn't blend into the wing as one would expect from a truly circulated coin.

'72 is a relatively common year for lowball kens. All of the early '70's are. If this was a 1980something it would be worth good money.

I was at the beach in St. Augustine,Fla about 20 years ago and a thunder storm was coming in off the coast. Kids were playing in the big waves so I was standing at the edge watching them and I saw these things running in and out with the wave action. I thought at first it was some kind of crab or fish, but on closer inspection, it was coins. Woohoo, I thought I had found some gold doubloons or some such so I started chasing them and grabbing them up. All told, I picked up $7.65 in good old USA change, lol. Lots of them looked much like the pictures in this thread. I figured the sand and wave action had worn them down like that. It was fun chasing them as they were all rolling on edge like a wheel, and in a school like fish. That was the strangest part, the way they seemed to be flocking together.

I found this worn 199? Half a few weeks ago, but just got around to getting a pic. When I first saw it, I saw the reverse first, and thought it was just a blank planchet until I turned it at an angle and saw the eagle.

Judging by the rim on that 199? it looks like it was artificially worn. It looks like a 1991 to me
