I'm guessing members on here are do not have many credit card mileage/points. Tough to get change back from a Visa!

I did away with credit cards a long time ago when I became debt free. On the very rare occasion I need one, I just use my debit card as one. I don't need no stinkin miles.

I was getting 1% cash back on my credit card. But spending coins for the Project 100k is worth more to me than that messily cash back.

I don't use cash anymore (I mean very rarely). I put everything on a credit card, collect Marriott Rewards points and payoff the balance at the end of the month. I lived through credit card heck in my foolish youth and won't let that happen again.

The trick is you just pay it off at the end of the month and never put more on it that you can afford, basically treat it like a debit card. If youre responsible unless a place offers cash discounts theres no reason not to charge everything with either the rewards or cash back

If my wife could put our monthly mortgage on our card she would. We put pretty much everything else on our card though. Her goal is to replace her entire wardrobe with clothes she gets for "free" using the LL Bean rewards bucks from our LL Bean credit card. Unfortunately, this isn't a good way to find anything good in spare change, which is why I roll hunt instead.

Speaking of cheap, here's another thing we do. The regional grocery store chain here in New York, Price Chopper, gives you 10 cents off a gallon of gas for each $100 spent. (It used to be 10 cents off every $50!) So before we go anywhere to make a purchase we stop at the Chopper and buy gift cards using our credit card for double the bang. We get the gas discount for buying the gift cards, and we get the Bean bucks back for using the credit card. Last year when I finished my basement I bought so many Lowe's gift cards that I got gas for 8 cents a gallon. (I also found out that Price Chopper has a limit of $999 per transaction.)

This credit card stuff really sort of killed me finding coins in change. I have a few credit cards but only use the BOA one. I get 1% back on everything. 2% back on groceries. 3% back on gasoline. And they recently had a special deal where I got $200 for using it for over $500 in a 90 day period. Also, if I transfer all earned credits to a savings account, they give me and extra 50% of everything I transfer.
So far this year I've made a real lot of money just using this card. My Son never uses cash anymore dut to this same reasons.
Sure wish they would accept them at flea markets.
