I have no idea what to pay. But I think the coin is pretty nice. Great details. Might have been cleaned at one time. ( soap and water)
If you like what you paid, then good job :)

I don't think you did too bad on the price at all.

Nice looking coin, with a couple small hits. IMO - just a little bit high .. but not much. I think this coin would have to make XF to be worth more than you paid.
Overall not a bad coin to fill a emprty hole.

You paid a bit less than full retail, so an OK deal. It is certainly a nice looking coin.

After seeing smoke riders post .. I had to look deeper. I was going by numismedia which has it priced at fine $3.11 Vf $6.90 XF $25.30 Seeing the other responses I thought I better check other guides. Greysheet (CDN) Bid/Ask Fine $9.25/$10.25 VF $13.00/$14.30 XF $28.00/$31.00 2014 RedBookFine $13.00 VF $17.00 XF $35.00 In the past, I thought Numismedia was pretty good with prices. After reading some of the other members post and checking the two other guides... I agree you made a good deal on this coin.

Awesome! For some reason I was thinking the wheat lines would knock it from XF down to VF but I really like the obverse on this guy. Can't wait to put him in the Dansco, although, he'll be a little lonely in his own row there... :) I'll post a pic or two when I get it!

You did OK on this deal. That is a rather difficult coin to find in that price range regardless of coin Guides.

I think you did very well. I know some will disagree with me but I think it could grade EF-45 maybe AU-50. I think the reverse was struck from a worn die which is why it looks like a VG/F. The obverse is choice EF to low AU, IMHO. Fantastic find!

I was wondering about the auction comments about that particular date being struck on worn dies. Was wondering if anyone could tell me what to look for with worn dies in general? Any tell tale signs?

52Raymo - I hope I didn't come across as not trusting the seller or the auction. Definitely not my intent. In fact, I'd give nothing but praise to this seller because of his attention to detailed photography! I was more concerned that I paid too much because it was a spur the moment impulse bid that I was wondering if I should have made. I'm feeling pretty good about it now!
