Hello I recently stumbled across a 1913 Great Britain One Penny when going through some coins that a friend had given to me that he no longer wanted. After looking at this coin it appears to look as though it may be a possible Error of some sort as you can see the image of obverse legend in background on the obverse design side of coin. I haven't been able to find anything on this. Any help would be great as to if this is an Error & if so what type along with what the value of this coin might be.

Thank You,
Jmacrow

I believe that type of error is referred to as a clash. Others will have to speak on its value.

Alright thank you for helping me with clarifying the possible error type that helps me with that & should make it a little bit easier to look into the value of the coin. Thanks again.

This is NOT an error. What you see here is an example of 'ghosting'.

It caused by the obverse die being too high in relief, relative to the large diameter and thinness of the flan.
It is reasonably common on British pennies from 1911, until 1926.
The problem was largely eliminated from 1927, when a new, lower relief master die was used.

The coin pictured is a reasonably strong example of the 'ghosting' effect.
