It's been a while since I've posted a coin for grading or even thought about grading. Took a break from sorting the family stash-- got way behind on other adult responsibilities, lol. This evening I was craving a peek at some coins and took a look at my small personal stash. I hadn't really looked at this Barber quarter before.

Like all of our coins, it's seen action. I like the 'circulation cameo' look of this one. I guess it will be a details grade because of the unfortunate obverse scratches :(

What net grade would you give this?

(and howdy, matthewvincent-- I cannot look at a Barber coin without thinking of you)

I love the look of this coin, especially the reverse "cameo" look.
I'm at F15 Details on this one.

At least VF-20 IMO, although that long, shallow obverse scratch may qualify as damage. Surfaces may be slightly granular (possibly from environmental exposure) but overall look market-acceptable.

Ahem, good to know I made an impression, ThisIsFun!

This is a VF all day long. And since it is scarce in this grade, the scratch doesn't matter TOO much.
It is well struck for New Orleans, notorious for lousy strikes.
All Barber quarters should have such a nice reverse. (Were that it were so, sigh...)

I'd go VF-25 or 30 for VF-20 money.

My 1898-O 10c barber is limited run, is the quarter also semi-key?
