Looks easy for VG10. Maybe a shot at F12. Main thing is authentication since it's a $3000 coin.

That portrait looks awful strong for VG. Even the eagle's right wing says Fine. Should make F12 or F15 imo. nlp

I think I have to characterize it the same way BH1964 did, so you're in good shape with your estimate. You've identified the proper pickups for the die, right?

So upon further review there are questions. I do not definitively see a rabbit ear or a die crack in the Liberty as suggested. You will see in the original pics that the Liberty is filled with grime. I am not sure If I am talking myself into it or not but I do see what could be the Rabbit Ear marker. Its in the right location. There appears to be a more pronounced crack or defect in the opposite tail of the "R" which does not list in any variations that I saw. Certainly too small to photograph.
The 1 on the obverse is in correct position. The 9 does not look altered.
Clearly a candidate for a verification by others.

I see nothing which raises alarm regarding authenticity; if it's a fake, it's a good one. What's the white spot just over the ear? It almost looks raised.
Even considering the fill in LIBERTY, you should probably be able to see the small die gouge inside the T under magnification. That said, it may be invisible while the coin is still genuine. I wholeheartedly agree that a professional opinion is in order, but be careful that the person you show it to is actually qualified to authenticate an 1893-S. Dealers have to be generalists.

Its fuzz/lint that snuck into the picture. I examined this coin for over an hour and am now convinced the rabbit ears are there.

If you stare at it long enough, you could convince yourself it's a quarter.

Really strong VG but as stated - it must be in a TPG from a top tier company before I'd touch it with my hard earned cash.

I don't see anything that screams fake but it should be authenticated. I can see it grading F-12. Nice coin!
