Hi. Anybody hear about this? caught me totally by surprise... Wolf, Wood Bison, cougar , antelope ect... saw it on ebay and then confirmed at APMEX.com 5K mintage each. Any thoughts? interest? RCM didn't really talk or advertise about this if I recall. Thanks Edited by encana 04/21/2013 4:33 pm

Yes, I have 4 of the wolves, they are my favorite coin, in my collection. I've learned on another thread a month or so ago, they are COLORED in Germany. They took 5,000 bullion coins and applied color, this makes them an after market product. Lately they are selling from $110-$152 on ebay. I even saw an auction for one at $400 a few days ago. I also learned the aftermarket color is very controversial with collectors, I don't really understand why. Any rate I bought them because I think they are cool. I'm looking forward to getting moose/bison when I can afford to. They are coins I intend to keep forever, and don't mind paying a higher premium for. The wolf looks much better in hand. Rox

Was discussed in one of the other threads... General idea - that I support it - the coins look interesting, but the colour just "killed" the beauty of the silver surface. The coins minted in the way, that they weren't targeted to be painted. Take a plain 38mm .9999 silver round and paint the same picture on it - it will be the same effect....
Only one advantage - the milk spots will not be developed here.
I would prefer to pay $100 for each of Wildlife coins if will be guaranteed that milk spots never appear on it, rather to buy painted versions for the same money.
So, interesting to see those variations of the set - plain, gilded, coloured, but nothing else...

Is it certain the milk spots will not develop on the painted ones? I was concerned they may develop in a couple yrs.

Really I do not know. Just think that the milk spots its is something that visible on the silver, and it will be under layer of colour.

Wish it would be real and without milk spots and encapsulated like Perth Mint does with the bullion.

I don't like a lot of coloured bullion, but that's a nice looking wolf.

I have all the coloured coins as well as the gold plated versions. They make a great set with the three in a row; silver, gold and coloured. They did a great job with the bison and moose as well but the wolf is still my favourite.

p.s. I believe they are inkjet printed rather than 'painted'.

beautiful. I generally don't mind aftermarket painted coins. I have a coloured ASE but yea it takes away from the silver a bit.

i agree they are beatifull coin....but why would someone pay 75$ for paint....thats what you pay....they are making money on collectors, its almost stealing...those coins have no merit at all as a rare collectable coin/bullion...they are worth the price of silver....point made....if its your thing...go ahead...keep on spending...LOL
