1901 Indian Head-Brockage Error?

I can not figure out what happened to this one? The closest thing I found was a brockage error but I don't have enough knowledge to confirm that...please help!

It does look like someone took a jackhammer to the states area lol but what confused me is the copper on the reverse that's in the same area as the states on the obverse.

The damage on the obverse effected the copper on the reverse?

It gets into the garage and the Franinstein syndrome kicks in.

damage on opposite ends of the same side (at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock, for example) is a tell tale sign of PMD.
