I have a $10 of 1914. That came via public auction. I guess that means in person from the vendor.

For me, when I set my mind on a specific coin all potential sources are fair game. I treat them different of course, meaning that a relatively expensive coin has to be graded if not in hand. But since I follow the ton of good advice obtained from this forum and others, I feel that I am armed with the right tools to consider all coin sources.

Punman, 99% of my Collection has come from E-bay or other on-line auctions which is why my favourite sound of the day is the door bell ringing and the mailman standing outside with an Expresspost in his hand!

In person, of course, unless it's from a reputable company.

I buy from everywhere: coin shops, coin shows, ebay, auction houses.

I'm with Rob on this one. I even buy right from the mint although it takes forever for the coins to arrive.

There are very few, if any, coin shops near where I live. Everything I buy has to be ordered online.

I never bought a coin on line, only at coin shows or coin shops. If they have what I'm looking for I will by it. But it's usually the coin that chooses me.

Anywhere a good deal comes along for something I'm looking for I'm in. I find I typically do quite well at the shows if they have the coin I am looking at. If only Ottawa had some bigger shows than the RA, maybe I'll hit up Toronto one of these days for a show.
