.

I saw they had some good grade ATB Quarters in them. They were slabbed "Limited Edition"

My question is how do they slab a coin "Limited Edition"? Do you have to send the complete set? I mean if I just submit an ASE proof, how do they know it's from the set?

BTW, the previous announcement said they were due to go on sale 5/29/13, but I guess they won't press anymore. I'm guessing it has to do with scheduling and demand for other coins.

Unless a coin is unique to a set you do have to send in the whole set to get special set designations

I never bought one, just figured I already owned all of those coins, they just weren't in the same package together.

I don't care which set my graded coins from, but apparently some people do. Some of the set designated coins fetch quite a premium.

Initially, most of us thought this Set was overpriced at $149.95 because it didn't have any unique coins in it.
Then, the regular 2012 Silver Proof Sets sold out early.

The silver 2012 JFK and Dime are still under 500,000 mintage, including the 50,000 in the Limited Sets.

The Limited Set would have gone to the moon if the (still-available) 2012 Silver Proof Quarters Set had also sold out...

I bought this set June 2013 for $195. I was quite bummed in the fall that they were still selling for a bit over $200. Just looked. They are now regularly selling for over $400! Insane.

This is a case of the whole equaling far more than the sum of the parts. Which is exactly what I said was going to happen.

Had my order in but placed it too late and it was canceled. Oh well. When some cash frees up or when the price comes down in 10 years...
