Personally, I don't sell my coins. I don't collect volumes so each piece is specially selected for my collection. However, if I wanted to dispose of the collection I would consider: * Local Coin Shows (rent a table) * Offer on the CoinCommunity site * Pass them down to family (not selling though) * Donate coins to Salvation Army or other non-profit * Cash for Coins/Gold (not a great option since prices offered are low) * ebay - obvious choice but the fees are horrible * Other coin auctions like Proxibid website I'm sure there are other methods but that is what I can think of right now.

I have sold coins here on this forum, at coin shows (visit several dealers for the best price), at coin shops and ebay. I have found ebay to be costly with fees, and local coin shops tend low ball you with their offers.

I've bought some coins off craigslist before. Not much because people always think that have a treasure and ask way to much for it.

I don't usually sell either, I'll trade up sometimes though if I'm not given lowball offers. If I were to sell I agree with FinanceGuru on all accounts

Your buying account works for selling as well. Theres actually nothing you need to do if its linked to your ebay account. You just list stuff and when it sells the money will be in your paypal

Yeah try craigslist. But you would get the most for them on ebay

Quote: But you would get the most for them on eBay As long as you remember it's going to cost you around 15% in fees between ebay and Paypal.

Find out if there is a coin club in your area and you can sell coins to members there. Be wary of Craigs List as you don't know who you are going to meet and you can be robbed so be sure if you have a buyer meet in a very populated place. I use burger joints to meet inside. I sell coins at the flea market, coin shows and coin shops I have done previous business with. Not all coin shops low ball on their buy prices, be sure you know what you want before you go out and sell the coins. Ed ANA LM-3175

If you meet in the parking lot of your local police station of the dumbest of the dumb would try anything. That simple suggestion will scare away most scammers and would be robbers

I bought off craigslist several times. Once, I met a guy and bought his silver. After the transaction, he threw in several coins for free. One was a 1909-S Indian Head cent. Yeah... Just make CL transactions at a bank.

I have already given a significant value in coins to my kids.
The rest of my collection will be disposed of after I kark it; they will come up or public auction as singles, or for the lesser valued items, in small groups. Typical lot value $200 to $500. Some lots very considerably more than that.
The proceeds will help to knock the kids' mortgages over, or go into their superannuation.
