1983-P Dime - What Are These Marks?

Pete2226 Pillar of the Community United States 3330 Posts	Posted 04/29/2013 8:00 pm I believe that I see several things on this Obverse: -a misaligned die (is it enough to identify it as such?) -an area in front of the mouth - die gouge or what? -the initials near the point of the bust seem to have something going on with them - but what? coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/29/2013 11:10 pm The die that made your coin is very late die state. Everything gets mushy at this point. The DI were probably just deteriorating away. The way you can tell it is VLDS is look at the devices that face the rim. Those are getting weaker per 100 strikes.
