I am terrible at grading coins properly ("neat, okay, and yikes = my grading system) and would appreciate any opinion as to the true grade of this coin. Thank you very much for your help.

I agree with F12 but the surfaces do not look original unfortunately.

I'm not sure about prior to when I got it as a teen (heck anything could have happened before that) but I have not cleaned it in the 42 years I've had it in a 2x2. Is that what you mean by not original? Sorry, I told you I was bad at this...

The color doesn't look like it should. The coin has been cleaned at some point before you got it

Okay, thank you for pointing that out. I'm not happy about it, but it is what it is. I appreciate the help. That particular coin was the one that refueled my passion for my childhood hobby. I've been collecting ever since I got it. Thanks again.

F-12, despite the cleaning (before you got it) it's still a tough date to get.

Nice coin but I bet it looks better than the pics show. The color looks to be off. Which side is closest to the color of the coin in hand ?

The reverse is the closest, not sure why my photo shows 2 different tones. 52Raymo, if I may ask a favor of one who's replies I respect: would you mind taking a look at my other post in this forum regarding the 1994-p LMC and give your opinion, I would greatly appreciate it.

Agree with F12 cleaned. One way to improve your grading skills is to go to the PCGS photograde site http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/#// select you type and narrow down your choices to three by looking at the wear. I have posted the 3 initial choices for the coin and then narrow it down. look at wear on the VG10, your reverse is stronger, look at the overall wear on the obverse compared to the F15, you can see yours has more wear on the headband and rims. this sort of narrows it down to between these two, thus the F12 grade.
