This showed up on my main ebay page because its a Morgan doillar but I saw this little sticker by "SCI" saying its a PQ coin. Is this some other company trying to work their way into the "green\gold bean" market or something? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PQ-Blast-Wh...221222474294

I am kicking myself for not thinking of it first , little round PQ stickers instead of little oval CAC stickers. First I passed on ICG and now this

I can't find anything on the web about this "SCI" company so I really don't know who is behind it. I just noticed it and had never seen it before and thats why I posted it here to see if anyone else knew who was behind this company or if its just a sticker the seller put on the slab to attract attention but its really meaningless to the general crowd NM after reading the auction more carefully I see its the seller doing this. This is what it says about the "SCI" PQ sticker: Quote: A PQ (Premium Quality) sticker is awarded to exceptional coins that pass a strict grading standard created by our founder, Barry Stuppler, a highly respected dealer with over 50 years experience in the numismatic industry. The PQ sticker ensures that you are buying the highest quality coin, which historically has proven to offer the best appreciation and liquidity compared to similar non-PQ certified coins.

Is it just this seller putting homemade stickers on coins? His username is very PQ.

No, unfortunately, it's a pretty reputable dealer (Barry Stuppler) slamming his nose in the door by trying to become the next basement slabber with a "company" name one character off the reputable ones. And frankly, that ain't a "PQ" 67; it's a weak one. I don't think it would bean, and that might be why his own weaksauce sticker is on it.

I agree with Tetromibi. Half of the seller's coins have that sticker on them.

Eagle Eye Coins does a similar thing. Just a marketing idea to promote the coins they think are high end. If half their coins have this sticker it does kind of defeat the purpose.

I find it interesting that there's no close-up zooming ability on the pics for this alleged PQ coin. IMHO, the pics, as I see them, make the coin MAYBE a 65. I seem to see a number of contact marks ... I want a closer look!

Thats a shame, I guess it was only a matter of time before basement CACers followed in the basement slabber footsteps. Id have more respect for him if he was legitimately trying to start his own version of it then just doing his own coins trying to jack up a premium. That makes me think to many of his coins were getting rejected by CAC. Hopefully he was at least considerate enough to use a sticker that peels off easy

Actually Eagle Eye does a really good job and they were the very first company to offer such a service, years before CAC came along. Rick Snow of Eagle Eye does indeed have an eagle eye for PQ IHC and FE cents. Many dealers put stickers on their slabs, this PQ one is a new one, Barry Stupler is a fairly large dealer - but it's seems to be his own marketing tool, an Eagle Eye sticker is more like CAC where as you send your coin in to them and pay a fee to have it examained and stickered if good enough to meet or beat the minimum standards.

The Eagle Eye stickers are trying to solve a rampant problem that has always existed with inconsistent grading of IHCs by TPGs. I once bought, and returned, an IHC graded by PCGS as AU55 that was actually an XF40 with a FAKE diamond. The middle diamond was actually etched into the coin... totally fake. To my knowledge, the other series don't have such a problem.

I guess apparently CAC isn't the only company that does the "beans".. There's was an add for a company called "Wings" in this past Febuary's CoinWorld (pg-161), started by a Lance Tchor...

Those guys are serious. CAC doesn't do World coins, and they're looking to fill that gap. Lance is a longtime collector, dealer for more than 35 years and owner of a few #1 World coin sets on the NGC Registry. We met the gentleman who runs the business side of things, Larry Michaelson, at the FUN Show in January.

I'm sorry if my post was taken wrong, I wasn't trying to imply they were a less than reputable company, I'm sure they are great... I was only pointing out that other companies becides CAC sticker coins. I actually thi k it's a pretty good idea to have an option to sticker world coins as well as CAC beaning US coins.
