Due to some time constraints, I left two ships out. I'll hit them in a housekeeping article later this summer... but if you ever wanted to learn a little more about the ships on our coinage, check out the piece!

I think the ships on the coins aree starting to grow on me a lot. I just bought a 1933 Portuguese 5 Escudos coin that has a really cool ship on it as well.

I think I have a veritable fleet in the mail :) I actually went off buying Portuguese Escudos and found the Caravel series of coins...very similar to those put on the commemorative coins.

I liked the article Charles - interesting to read what happened to some of the famous ships that are displayed on the coins. Interesting how they sold the Mayflower off for scrap.

"Sold for scrap. Thus ends the service life of one of the world's most iconic ships."

Nice article! I enjoyed the read!

I'm guessing that at least one of the two "missing" ships to which you make reference will be the sailing ship on the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner gold half-eagle?

I noted your inclusion of a number of tokens and medals on your list, if more US Mint struck medals are eligble for your listing there's at least ten additional pieces that can be added.
