Please look at ebay 281102989332

How in the world could this Gunmoney crown be AU?

Looks AU to me, or at worst high XF (then again I don't know a first thing about "gunmoney" coins).
It's darkened, uneven (probably originally), and seems weakly struck. But I just can't see how it isn't AU (at worst, I repeat, high XF).

It does have a strong overstrike in numerous area's and light strikes elsewhere, as expected when one coin is overstruck over a existing coin [this looks like it was struck over a 1689 coin].

I would agree with NGC's grade on this one.

Wow! Fascinating.

I don't know about this type of coin, but I have two reactions: 1) at first glance, this coin looks damaged (it's got several cracks coming off the edge) and badly banged up; 2) maybe those familiar with this series would say that's how they're supposed to look!

To contrast, I have an NGC AU55 coin, and it would easily pass for MS to anyone not using a 16x loupe to inspect its surfaces. For a 53, the coin in this listing looks pretty badly off. How did they ignore the overstrike, or is it one of those things where if you odn't ask for it when you submit they won't put it on there for you?

As I understand it, all of these were overstruck on Gunmoney halfcrowns.

I seen many of these 1690 crowns (and have some) with more details showing . This one, in my view, is a poor example.

Ignore the stains, scratches and dirt spots and it looks like it's in excellent condition. I agree with NGC.

I wish NGC would ignore some of the stains, scratches, and dirt spots on some of my submissions! ;)
