A plethora flooding the market has driven down their price. Would you please look at the reverse. Strike error? For your consideration...

If you are referencing "PLURIBUS" that is strike weakness and not an error.

w/ BH1964. Many of the capped busts have this same issue to some extent. Although I'm far from an expert on the Capped Busts, the majority of them that I've seen have a weak strike w/ an incomplete pluribus...

So you believe this is a weak strike. How would you rate the coin?

I also believe your Bust Half has a weak strike, as mentioned above this is quite common on Bust Halves.

In my opinion she shows the details of a VF Bust Half if that is what you meant by rate.

The real question I would be asking my self about this Bust Half is what variety or die marriage is it? in 1836 there were 18 Obverse Dies & 20 Reverse Dies used to produce 23 different Die Marriages.

What Alan (CoinZip) said.

plus, a plethora have driven the prices down?

Where?

Also, it (your coin) appears to have some rim issues.

FYI, the weak "PLURIBUS" is in many cases due to a lack of metal required in that area of the planchet to flow into the lower bust area on the obverse of the coin and that particular portion of the motto when the coin is struck. The lower bust area is opposite that part of the banner. Really more of a design flaw IMO than a weak strike even though a "weak" strike is the indirect cause. Thought you might find that interesting if you didn't already know that. : )

I have seen many early bust halves with exceptionally strong strike on one side and a weaker strike in the other. This example shows a full motto and strong reverse strike with a weaker observe.

Thanks, Muddler. Your coin shows (though out of focus) shows incredible detail, obviously an XF or higher. I thought the $96 I paid for this to be on the high side. While I have a modicum of knowledge, it helps to hear a more professional appraisal coming from this site's experienced members.
