Hi members! I've been browsing on this site and have a question about 2 Roosevelt dimes I have that have an obv clash on the face from the torch. I've put them in 2x2 and put them away. I haven't found any others though I keep watch for them. I'd like to know if these type clashes are common or not. Sorry but I don't have pics.

Are you saying the clash is on the face of Roosevelt? If so, then the dies would have had to clash very hard for that event. Most of the time the clashing is in the fields like the clashing on the coin in this link. https://goccf.com/t/130407&SearchTe...clashed,dime

Also, are there any clashes on the reverse of these coins?

Yes, the clash of the torch is on the face. I didn't check the reverse. I will have to check. If I remember correctly both dimes are 2007 P. Thanks for your reply.

I have found quite a few roll searching. Most show the top of the handle of the torch right where the flame comes out. Look under the neck for the tips of the flames. Look on the nose for the olive branch. Look behind the ear for oak leaves. Also look in front of the forehead for E PLU. I keep all of these. I think they are cool. More than likely you will see something on the reverse. You will probably find the straight line where Roosevelts head ends taking off from the tips of the flame.

The fields only will show the clashes. Here is an overlay:

If they are over the face, then it may be a coin damaged by squeezing to or more coin together to make an error. It happens a lot and are even sold on ebay.

If you look at Jason Cuvelier's overlays on the mad clashes site he shows, in color, where the clashes take place on the face. It does happen, just not nearly as much.

See here: http://www.maddieclashes.com/dimes.html

I discovered the one listed as ADC-10c-1977D-01 and it has clash marks on the face.

I've never noticed those overlay pictures before. That explains a lot about what would be listable. I noticed I have been seeing a lot of clashing inside the memorial building on Lincoln cents. Are coins with heavy die polish or erratic die polish lines collected? I find them interesting but find them pretty often. It would be cool to find die progressions for a really strong clash event through die markers if it is possible. normal coin, then clashed version, then cleaned up version, then 2nd clash if there is one, the 2nd cleaned up clash version, etc...
