I found this 1948-D Lincoln Wheat cent with an impression running through the tip of the left wheat head. Do you guys think it is a lamination error, struck through error, or PMD? I don't think it is PMD as it appears that the tip of the wheat head is intact. I'm thinking lamination because it appears to go "under" the tip of the wheat head. It looks like the problem was in the planchet before striking. But if that is the case, how did the tip of the wheat head show up. It looks like it would be incuse also. Sorry for rambling. Just trying to go through the process in my head. Thanks folks!

I'm just guessing, but it looks like maybe the planchet was flawed.

I'll check back to see what the experts say.

It runs behind the devices, so I feel this is a die gouge in the field from what I can see.

The it must be struck through error. (What I can't guess.)
