Was looking for a vicky cent to post in the Victoria Day celebration and noticed this re-engr or is it a re-cut 9.

My photography has improved to the point that the coins are sharper on the computer than with a loop. ..

....any added info here is greatly appreciated. Thanks....

Sorry, don't know which name is correct for the 9. I would call it a repunched 9 or 9/9 for what that's worth :-). However this looks like an Obverse 4 variety to me. The alternatives are Obverse 2 and Obverse 3 with 2 being the most valuable and 3 & 4 being about the same.

I catalogued this one as reverse die R1S-A4 in my 1890 and 1892 book. It is not very scarce, as it was married to one obverse 3 die and two obverse 4 dies. Yours is from the obverse 4 die O2AA-A6. That particular die marriage O2AA-A6/R1S-A4 only minted about 2% of the obverse 4 cents dated 1892. Nice coin.

What did ICCS call it, MS-64 Red?

Thanks again bosox, for bringing so much quality info to us here. You're right on..!!

.....and should be grading for them...

...and I'm waiting for my 2011 Charlton catalogue right now for the added large cents info.

Is 'some' of your 'book info' in this 2011 catalogue?

The 2011 Charlton lists very basic descriptive info on about 80 Victorian cent varieties. That is all we had space to do. It contains none of the detailed die info, such as was contained in my post.
