Looking for opinions on a grade of this coin. It's an 1865 repunched date, used the scanner on it so the color is a little off (looks way more flat brown in this picture than it does in person). I have a hard time distinguishing grades AU-50 to MS-70, hence the request. Any help would be appreciated. And please excuse the lint, my scanner must be dirty, lol.

Here are some better pictures. The scanner pictures just are too flat and remove a lot of the detail for some reason. Sorry for the blurriness, but it does give you an idea of the 'luster' and color of the coin as well.

Hmm... I'm gonna say AU-50, but I'm with you on the difficulty in higher grades.

Is it just me, or the pics, or does the reverse seem to have a bit of wear, no?

I'm having a hard time grading this one from the photos. The scan helps show the details nicly the RPD is a good one! The coin is an ebay unc all day long, I think the true grade is weakly struck and AU58 cleaned.

Nice XF, weak strike. Hard to tell about the coloring from pics.

It appears to be at least a high AU and could be MS. I see little if any wear and the coin looks like it could be very lustrous. Most original circulated copper that I see are completely brown or very nearly so and the presence of "red" in the amount that this coin has seems to support a MS grade. There are some circulated copper with a lot of "red" but those almost always have unoriginal surfaces. I am unsure if the "red" on this coin is original or not.
