I recently sent what I thought was a 1942/1 D dime to ANACS for certification after three different dealers at a coin show told that I should.
Generally speaking, I trust ANACS attribution over all other
TPG's, regardless of anything else. 1942/1-D is a lot more subtle than the Philadelphia version, and keep in mind that dealers have to be jacks of all trades.
Did you specifically ask ANACS to attribute it? They won't necessarily, unless you ask.
I'd like to see the coin in its' own thread, if you can get us images. Include the mint mark as well as the date, because the 1942/1-D's had repunched mint marks also.
