Anyone want to guess the grade for this? It's graded by a now defunct TPG.

Also, any VAM people want to take a shot? I'm not good at VAMing.

Thanks!

There's not really enough contrast in the images for me to accurately consider what is and isn't important on the cheek to influence grade, but I see enough to consider it no worse than 63 and likely 64. Possibly even better. As regards the variety, there's nothing striking on the coin to immediately indicate one VAM or another. The rest of the process would involve a strong loupe and a VAM-by-VAM search at VAMworld.

These are the seller's pics.....and they look like scans to me instead of photos of the coin. I am thinking the luster is there, it's just hidden in the scan. I should get the coin in a few days, and I will update this post with new images.

Thanks!

I think I've vammed it to VAM1 - Closed 6 variety.

Much better pics. This one's 64 all day, and has a shot at 65. They're fairly easy to find all the way to MS67, so grade value wouldn't be in the way of a good grade.

I purchased it for $52....not a bad deal. I think it'll go MS64.

Old Hallmark Slab....getting harder to find these old Hallmarks!

Ooooh. Growth opportunity.

Is that Hallmark or early PCI? You'd probably get a decent price just leaving it in a Hallmark slab; there's an audience for that independent of grade.

Yes, it's Hallmark....if you look closely, you'll see it embossed in the top of the plastic holder....I'm definitely leaving it in the holder.

I have a soft spot for Hallmark and ANA slabs.

It looks like a strong MS-64 with a chance at MS-65.
