Any dark areas are reflections, like the reverse pillars, there's no toning on this coin. I had a rough time photographing this one because it's so reflective. My burning question! Will PCGS give it a top pop 68? It's one I really want to submit.

Is the little black circle on the obverse part of the coin or the photo? If on the coin, would they hold it against the grade? That is an amazing coin! Mirror, mirror...

Yes, there is a carbon spot in the left, obverse field. There's also a speck on the reverse at the bottom of the steps. Those are about the only blemish on this coin.

Quote: My burning question! Will PCGS give it a top pop 68? Are you a gambling man Thad? I can't see any reason for a TPG to knock 3 points off for the two carbon spots. That being said, PCGS is known for being really rough on copper. It'll probably cost you $40+ to submit it. If it hits 68, it's worth $400. 67 or 66 and it's a $20 coin...if it's slabbed. I doubt seriously you'd be able to get $20 for it without it being graded. I'm typing this while holding a $5 scratch-off ticket that ended up being a $100 winner btw. It's your coin and your money my friend...and your call. The fact that you've taken the time and effort to share this one tells me that you do think it has a chance at a 68. I've done stupider things with $40 in my lifetime...

Submit it. DO IT! Does peer-pressure work with you? I'll paypal ya $20 to help submit it. If it gets a 68, it's worth $400, and you paypal me $100. If it doesn't hit 68, you paypal me back $10, or mail me the coin instead.

HAHAHAHA Scotty!
I can get it slabbed for $25 using my dealer. The problem is, a sister store submits the coins and they screw it up and send it to NGC by accident VERY often. It's happened to me a LOT. Maybe I'll just leave it in an airtite!

I get royally raped when I submit coins through my dealer to PCGS. It's an automatic $45 to hand over the coin, and the fees increase from there if I want any type of attribution.
If you can postmark it before the end of the month, ANACS is offering free return shipping.

.. As usual Thad, always nice coins you have, I would submit it too but, I'm afraid PCGS will hold it back for the 2 carbon spots... just my opinion..

Bad, a gorgeous coin, however, since we're talking a super high grade, I noticed the following:
The two carbon spots previously mentioned. A ding on the rim of the obverse below Lincoln at 7 o'clock.
A ding on the reverse rim at 9 o'clock, two contact marks to the left of the memorial and one to the right of the memorial. Two marks within the 'C' of Cent.
I think at best this coin garners a MS-67. Beautiful example, and I would gladly take this bad boy any day of the week.

Thanks for the opinions everyone. I think I'll keep it in the airtite, I hate rolling the dice with PCGS unless I'm 100% sure.
