Hi All,

I have been looking on the internet to find the production numbers for the Sacagawea dollars for the P,D,S. I did find the mintage numbers for 2000 to 2008 but not for the 2009 - Present. Can someone provide me with link to this?

Thanks
John

John - in 2009 they changed the offerings name to the Native American dollar. It included a yearly reverse image change as well.

Wow, are those mintages accurate? The P&D numbers really dropped off in 2012. Makes me think the final tallies weren't incorporated into that site.

Not sure. I just did a quick search and that was the best site I found in the top results.

Wiki gives the same mintage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacagawea_dollar)

There is a big difference in mintage between 2009-2011 and 2012/2013!

I think the mint pulled back from minting so many of these on their own. Since these are not in circulation anymore, the over production was going into storage and wasting space. There is a requirement that they mint like 20% of the golden coin in these and they have requested that to be dropped by Congress. I haven't read anywhere that it was removed, so I suppose technically they are breaking the law? Maybe not since the production numbers have dropped on the president dollars as well.

The treasury secretary suspended coinage of all Sac/NA and Presidential dollars late in 2011 for the reasons Doug outlined above. The coins were being stockpiled by the FRS and practically nobody was using them. Thus starting in 2012 the dollars are being issued to collectors in rolls and bags and in the annual sets. The 20% requirement does not seem to be applicable to the collector products since these coins aren't being issued through the Federal Reserve bank and minted to demand through the year of issue.
