so I think I'm confuesed with the meaning of the 'P' mark since I thought it was only introduced in 2000, and I found a 1999 P nickel. this can't be a mistake?

I have one too. I paid for mine though - did not find it. I wonder if it were some kind of a "test" year or just issued in non circulating sets?

yea I've been looking it up. I'm still having a hard time realizing this! seems they are a "rare token testing piece" .... thats pretty wild! I wish I could figure out how many of them there are... and how they even ended up in circulation. how much is one worth!! haha and I was happy with ending up finding 5x 2000-P nickels today! this is just great : )

1999 p were issued for testing vending machines.
20,000 sets were made with 1,5,10,25,50 cent coins and a medallion.
The full set can be bought for $50.00
