I'm not an expert on proofs, but this coin appears to have been buffed with a car buffer or something. the high devices are all ground down. this seller has 8 sells. wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole unless you are buying for the silver. if this guy doesn't know this, he shouldn't be selling coins, if he does...he should be shut down. Just a circulated business strike that has been polished and likely painted gold. Worth no more than melt.

It's a heavily-polished, circulated coin which some miscreant has gold-anodized on the obverse. Its' retail value has been destroyed by this mistreatment, and it's worth no more than melt. This doesn't help your credibility much as a seller. Then again, neither does "unsearched" Wheatie rolls which have a Barber dime at one end. |

I would also like to hear his reply. I did forget to mention in my initial post that the seller DOES have very nice photographs, which allows us to go on this rant. Any thoughts on his other listing of three Indian Head cents? |
