Maybe they did put in one of the first orders or they got an early ordering period so that remained technically true. Why they dont admit it I dont know. We all know you get special treatment being a large buyer and I completely expect them too. It really doesn't bother me at all, its makes perfect business sense to worry more about the 30k+ order more than the 150 dollar one.
Theyre just protecting their own interests and in some ways ours as well. They need those orders to assure that they make enough money to not only offset the costs of the series but to make money as well. If they shipped those sets last those sellers orders would get smaller over time as their market for them shrunk waiting for their orders. If it got to the point that they mint was no longer profiting off collectable items they would stop making them and wed just have circulating coinage.

Yeah, they profit with the big orders, but how did they get graded so fast? I know like show grading only takes a few hours, I can't imagine how many TPG employees to be on site. I'm all for going back to circulating coins. In this thread, others have discussed 'initial' values on new type releases. 3 reverse proofs in a row? How many enhanced versions can we expect in the future? I mean, when I look at the Canadian mint, there are soooo many varieties that it loses its "special" appeal.

Just like the mint the TPGs give those orders special preference as well in terms of how fast they get to them. Basically instead of having to wait in the line like everyone else those orders likely just jump to the front and the other modern orders are put on hold for a day or two. If you track the turn around times for getting things graded you can see times where theyre much slower than before because of the large numbers of large order coming in for new products.
We will likely see the enhanced one again, whether its next year or later down the line only the mint knows the answer to that. I like the variety personally with the RPs and the new enhanced and think the RP is the best looking of the ASEs. I'm fine if they want to do one every year, but if theyre going to do it every year Id rather see it as an individual coin rather than a set at some point. Unless they keep coming up with new ideas to keep both the set coins unique to the set just let me buy the RP without the stiff packaging premiums

I used to poo-poo you guys that said that the Mint gave preferential treatment to these big dealers, and you know what?.....YOU GUYS WERE RIGHT. I extend my apologies.
How can it be "First in First Out" when these big dealers have had time to get their coins, get them graded, and ship them to their customers already, when I don't even have a ship date for an order that was placed within a few hours of the first day they went on sale?
So they give dealers with deep pockets preferential treatment....well fine. They should at least stop denying that they do it.

I won't see the 2 sets I ordered from the mint until Sept. sometime, so I was glad to be able to get my first graded set from SilverTowne this early. I couldn't stop looking at the enhanced ASE last night.

Quote: I dont blame the mint for shipping the orders to their largest buyers first they make the most money off them. Businesses always give special treatment to their most valued customers Same old story..........Those who gots it.......gets it first! Even though the 'little' guy, is the backbone of their business.

I find all this back and forth about 1st in 1st out very interesting.
Last year for the 2012 set I ordered 12 sets on opening day at 12:20 I then ordered 1 set in my sisters name 13 minutes later. Come shipping day my sisters got shipped mine did not.
I called the mint to ask why 1st in 1st out didn't work and was told because "mine was a large order and required special handling"
I got mine 2 days behind my sisters even though hers took the slow route and mine was expressed

It's frustrating because I ordered 2 sets around 1PM by phone because the site was congested. Later, about 4PM I ordered 1 on the site when it was up and working. The first 2 orders all gave me a ship date of 6/17. The last said September something, then August then July 27, July 11, June 27, and today it says June 17 like the first two!!! The saleswomen teased me too because she had several passed around to all the sales people and told me "it really is beautiful". Any raw pics?.....Anyone?....Bueller?.....Bueller?

wif99 - that is kind of frustrating I can imagine. The logic that the bulk large orders of thousands is delaying the shipment to the smaller orders, is kind of defeated when you read the small orders get shipped first because of the special handling for larger orders...
I also not "beholding" to the idea 3rd party resellers are what keeps the mint in business. In fact, if they are all that are buying from the mint why bother with selling to the public and not just take it private and let them front the business... That would drive many of us out once and for all.

bryt - they must have just done that, mine is also updated to reflect 7/11 now. I've gone from 7/25 to 7/11 to 6/24 to 6/17 and now to 7/11 again... might have stopepd at 7/2 briefly along the journey. Oh well, I am sure they'll ship someday - it isn't like I missed ordering them this time around.

7/11 just now too.
I spoke with CS this morning, they said the same thing that was posted here previously.
"They are waitng on a shipment, should be ready to ship July 2"
July 2nd is what was posted here before also.

Just re-checked this afternoon: They now changed the date back to 7/25/13- from 7/11/13.
7/25/13 was the original ship date, then 7/11/13 and now back again!
Does the US Mint know what they are doing?
