I have an 1832 Bust Half, and never took the time to really look at the edge of the coin. The H is missing from the word HALF. Is this common?

Thanks.

I'm not surprised - that letter transfer was an inexact science, and various mistakes abound across the series.

The vagaries of the Castaing machine! Each coin was rolled between two strips of metal that applied the two halves of the edge lettering. The two points on the edge where the halves met were inexact, which is why there are a few decorative symbols at those points, to fill any gaps.
